Okay…for those of you that missed our “Rock of Ages” rock show at Jim’s Music on June 11th, you really missed out on something big! Fortunately, we have some video, so take a few minutes to check out the amazing talent we have here at Rainbow Bridge Music Studio! We were fortunate to have four bands play that night, with a crowd of over 200 people! The Jim’s Music staff were amazing, and the stage, P.A. and stage lights really set the mood of a first rate rock show!
The show kicked off with “Attractive Nuisance”, a new classic rock cover band. They got the crowd warmed up with classic favorites ‘Secret Agent Man’, ‘Old Time Rock & Roll’, ‘Stray Cat Strut’, and ‘Mustang Sally’. Next up, Junior Rockers “Black Magic” took the stage with a little old, a little new. They started with ‘Our Lips Are Sealed’ and ‘Since U Been Gone’ with Vanessa Howard providing the vocals. Then, they proceeded with ‘Wake Up’ (Hillary Duff), and had the crowd dancing with ‘Funky Town’. Aline Tusan provided the vocals for those two tunes. Ryan Guidotti rocked the guitars, and Peter Thomas was on the keys. Aline was playing guitar when she wasn’t singing, and Vanessa was playing keys when she wasn’t singing.
Next up, the headliners, Teen Rockers “Powerslyde”. Powerslyde consists of brothers Matthew and Ryan Villahermosa, and Shane and Jack Colston. Rounding out the group is Christopher Tusan on Keys/Vocals. Powerslyde started out with the heavy hitters ‘Bulls On Parade’ (Rage Against The Machine), ‘For Whom The Bell Tolls’ (Metallica), ‘The Trooper’ (Iron Maiden), and ‘Helter Skelter’, (The Beatles). Then they showed their softer side with ‘Hotel California’ with a sensational dual guitar solo at the end handled by Jack Colston and Ryan Villahermosa. They finished their set with a surf classic, ‘Pipeline’. Shane Colston provided the backbone to the whole set with super solid drums, never missing a beat. Matthew Villahermosa continues to grow as a vocalist, leading the band with more and more confidence and stage presence! Watch the videos, and be amazed!
Last up, were veteran surf rockers, “The Vectors”. They played a set of classic surf tunes that are a little less known than the standards, which is a great way for our students to be exposed to music they might not have heard before. The Vectors did a great job of educating the audience about the music they were playing.
We are gearing up for the next session of “Rock of Ages” starting in September! Thank you to all that made this last session such a big success! We are on the lookout for other acts to pair up with our bands, so you never know who your child could be opening for!
